Famed in France with Amnesiac quartet band (Tribute to Radiohead), he got many awards from “jazzmagazine”, Jazznews”, “citizenjazz” and FIP Radio broadcast with his 11 albums as leader or co-leader. As musician he played in many countries such USA, Poland, Nederlands, Marocco, Belgium, Switzerland, Myanmar, Italia, Spain, Czech Republic, Austria, Japan… He played in France with Baptiste Herbin,Christophe Panzani,David El Malek, Benjamin Henocq, Frédéric Couderc, Yoni Zelnik, Eric Barret, Stéphane Kerecki, Karl Jannuska, Anne Paceo, Pierrick Pedron, Jean-Philippe Rykiel and some american jazzmen and jazzwoman such Janis Siegel, Mike Richmond, Dave Schroeder, Billy Drummond, Billy Drewes, John Hadfield, Martin Wind… As composer he worked for movies for Fechner productions, spirit musics and he published 2 jazz song books for piano and saxophone and piano and Clarinet and a piece for saxophone soprano and piano at Billaudot editions (Berlioz, Liszt, Guillaume Connesson, Thierry Escaich…) He is member of the duet Border Jazz with classical Saxophonist Nicolas Prost who playing world premiere from Chris Potter, Branford Marsalis, John Helliwell, John Zorn, Henri Texier, Michel Portal, Avisahi Cohen… He is member of Sebastien Paindestre trio, Atlantico, Border Jazz, Clement Dodray quintet, Tokyo Paris express.
Sébastien Paindestre integrates in 1990 the E.N.M.D. of Montreuil in the classical class of piano of Sylvie Irla and Olivier Chauzu: master pieces from Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Ravel and Debussy touch him deeply.
He studies jazz music with Jean-Claude Fohrenbach, Didier Levallet and Stephan Oliva.
Former student of Erik Berchot (Chopin award winner),Sébastien Paindestre was the pianist of Eve Griliquez (famous lady of the radio and TV in 70’s) during three years, he played these last years with the jazzmen of the young jazz area such David El Malek, Benjamin Henocq, Frédéric Couderc, Yoni Zelnik, Stéphane Kerecki, Karl Jannuska,Anne Paceo…
It leads since 2001 its own jazz band “Sébastien Paindestre trio” and release 4 album (2005, 2008, 2010 and 2016)
INTERNATIONAL JAZZ ARTIST
Sébastien Paindestre, plays since 2001 at many jazz venues and international jazz festivals in France and across the world.
He is the leader since 2007 of the jazz band Amnesiac quartet with some (ex)musicians of Magma which is expressed on the music of Radiohead (2 albums).
He collaborates with the composer of Electroacoustic music Jacques Lejeune since 2006 ,and with the classical saxophonist Nicolas Prost, he dedicates to him a classical piece for piano and saxophone “Round’ Radiohead” published in 2015 at Billaudot.
He also wrote the music on unseen films of Georges Méliès release in DVD in April 2008 (Studiocanal, Fechnerproductions).
NEW-YORK
It has just recorded in 2015 in New York an album as a Co-leader with the American saxophonist Dave Schroeder of the NYU and a jazz legend Billy Drummond (Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, Carla Bley…) and Martin Wind at the double bass.
Joe lovano introduced the band into the CD : “Atlantico” is full of joy and inspiration. From tune to tune, this collective quartet tells some beautiful stories about who they are and where they’ve been. I keep hitting the repeat button. Bravo!!!
He is professor at New-York University since 2017.
He played at famed jazz-club the Blue-note in NYC in October 2018 with Atlantico Band.
